Hi everyone, I noticed a card by Loll Thompson at her blog here and loved it! So I adapted it a little and came up with a second idea that also uses her basic layout. I hope you like them. The birds were punched out of watercolor paper. Both red and blue birds were then completely covered in ink. I do this by putting the bird directly on the ink pad and with my fingers I smoosh the bird into the ink pad, lifting up to check if I got full coverage. This makes your fingers rather inky, so if you don’t like that idea you could sponge the bird.
Then I spritzed the birds with water. The blue one with plain water, the red bird with water that has some Perfect Pearls powder mixed into it. This is what gave the red bird a little bit of pearlescent shine. Both birds ended up with a little bit of water splotchiness. When they got wet, they curled a little, causing the ink to pool at the edges. When they were fully dry, they flattened out nicely. The leaves were done in the same way, with green ink. When the leaves were dry, I ran a green marker around the edge of the paper to give the leaf edges definition. I also did that with the red bird’s wing.
