Happy November! This is my favorite month of the year, and the beginning of the holiday season. From now until Valentine’s Day, there’s baking, candy, parties, and fun. I still have a few Thanksgiving ideas in mind, but soon I’ll be switching over to Christmas ideas, I promise. I remembered that I had this die set with three words, merry, thankful, and love. I thought for today’s card I’d use the “thankful” word. This was a real challenge for me for some reason. Anyway, I hope you like what I came up with. I began with the cut out word. These dies are difficult to use, they want to hold onto the thin little strips of paper. But if you use wax paper, the word slides out like a dream. See this post for a tutorial on how to do this.
The background of the card base has randomly placed maple seeds stamped on it. I wanted to imitate the effect of these guys floating down through the air. The leaves were also placed to appear to be floating down. I stamped the leaves in early espresso, then stamped again with crushed curry to fill in. I cut them out by hand, then attached them with foam dimensionals. The burlap ribbon didn’t want to stick well using the snail tape runner, so I put down two long strips of sticky strip to adhere it to the card, then one sticky strip to adhere the strip of paper to the ribbon. To attach the word to the yellow strip of paper, I gently dotted the back with the Tombow glue, not everywhere, just here and there, enough to stick it down without oozing out the sides.
